The Rising Tide Summit will host more than just great talks, organizations will make major announcements relating to their new projects, research and campaigns that will take center stage in 2018. Below are just a few announcements that will be made at the summit.
Tick Tock is a global initiative - launched by Lonely Whale, Point Break Foundation and VML - aiming to inspire commitments from policymakers, corporations and individuals to dramatically reduce and eliminate single-use plastics. Tick Tock will leverage unique technology and internationally-recognized data to measure collective impact and frame the plastic pollution crisis on a global scale via a Countdown Clock - which will be the first global impact tool tracking and projecting impact on marine debris. Throughout 2018, Tick Tock will directly engage policy makers and create a rallying cry to galvanize collaborative action.
Ban List 2.0
BAN List 2.0 is both a snap shot of the top 20 plastic products polluting the land and waterways in the US, but also an in-depth look at the role of bioplastics in society. We tested bioplastic products in the ocean and on land in a 2-year experiment and found it’s not a functional alternative for single-use plastic products. BAN List 2.0 outlines what the "Better Alternatives Now" should be in order to keep our land and sea free of plastic pollution.
